Bio

The work of Jasmine Gregory (*1987 in Washington, D.C., lives and works in Zurich) develops around various sets of motifs, artistic gestures as well as assemblages to explore the tensions of artistic production, history of paintings as well as subjectivity in how it circulates in institutional and commercial contexts, thereby addressing absurd and abstracted notions of culture and commodity. Her paintings and sculptures draw from a complex spectrum of historic and contemporary reference points, such as baroque still life, portraiture, advertisement.

Solo exhibitions include If I Can’t Have it, No One Can, CAPC Musée d’art contemporain Bordeaux, Bordeaux (2023), Believe in ur Dreams, Martina Simeti, Milan,  A little Newer, A Little Better, A Little Sooner Than is Necessary, SOPHIE TAPPEINER, Vienna (2023), Mommie Dearest, Istituto Svizzero, Milan, Heirlooms, King’s Leap, New York City (2022), Home Improvements, Park View / Paul Soto, Brussels (2021), Trouble at Casa Amor, Karma International, Zurich (2020).

Recently, her work has been included in group shows held at Fitzpatrick Gallery, Paris (2023), Karma International, Zurich, Centre D’Art Contemporain, Genève, Kunsthalle Fri Art, Fribourg (2022). 

In 2023 Gregory has been nominated a finalist for the Swiss Art Awards.

Gregory has a solo show coming up at CAPC Musée d’art Contemporain de Bordeaux in fall 2023.
