Bio
Anna Schachinger’s (*1990, lives and works in Vienna, Austria) work explores notions of care, women’s spaces, and the intricate interconnection of all beings with their environment. Drawing from her diverse background and experiences, her practice embraces ambiguity and invites multiple interpretations, reflecting the layered and relational nature of existence. Centered on the line, her work unfolds on a variety of surfaces—ceramics, velvet, or pre-used fabrics—that carry their own histories and meanings, marking a conscious departure from the neutrality of traditional canvas. Her exhibitions, conceived as site-specific installations, seamlessly integrate and unveil the specific structures of the spaces they inhabit.
She received her diploma from the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna in 2018, participated in the maumaus study program in Lisbon in 2017 and studied at School of the Art Institute in Chicago from 2010 to 2012.
